Regatta 44 in Turkey
Racing at last! In September we ran our first amateur regatta in Turkey. We raced almost daily on a closed course and finished with a big offshore race. No special skills required, only the will to win.

FAQ
What is a regatta?
A regatta is a sailing competition between sailing vessels. Regattas come in dozens of varieties depending on boat type, route, crew professionalism and distance. We race a fleet of one-design 42–45 ft yachts in a series of windward-leeward and distance races.
I have never sailed before
Our regatta is amateur, so no professional skills or preparation are required. Experienced skippers give everyone a role, and only smooth teamwork brings the crew to victory. For the first couple of days crews practise handling the boats, and then they meet in a series of different races.
What about accommodation and food?
We live aboard. At night we are firmly moored to the shore. Each boat has two toilets, showers, a galley and four cabins. For breakfast, lunch and dinner we stop at seaside cafes and restaurants, and you can also cook on board.
Why race at all?
Racing under sail is perhaps the most beautiful way to bond a team, learn new skills and break out of routine into a completely different rhythm. Time and program are set aside for rest and recovery.
