New Year in Turkey: yacht tour of Fethiye Bay
Welcome 2027 aboard a yacht: Lycian ruins, sunset from the highest point of Gemiler island, paragliding off Babadağ, cosy bays and a New Year’s Eve with fireworks in Fethiye.
Accommodation
We live on a 2022 Bavaria C45 yacht or a catamaran in double cabins. Three bathrooms and a kitchen with a fridge and gas stove are at guests’ disposal.
Weather
In late December and early January the weather in Fethiye Bay is mild: daytime air warms to 18–20 °C, nights are 10–15 °C and the sea stays around 18 °C. It does rain, but rarely for long.
Day-by-day program

Day 1
We meet at the home marina, Ece Marina in Fethiye, check in to the yacht, hold a safety briefing and shop for provisions. Dinner in Fethiye at Pasha Kebab.

Day 2
We cast off and sail to Gemiler island: after sailing across the bay we drop anchor by beautiful Lycian ruins and watch the sunset from the island’s highest point.

Day 3
On to Ölüdeniz beach, where you can paraglide from the top of Babadağ, then a night in the cosy Cold Water Bay.

Day 4
Off to Göcek! We visit Turkey’s upscale resort town with its restaurants and canal-lined streets, enjoy a bit of civilisation and stock up for New Year’s Eve.

Day 5
On 30 December we stay in Sarsala Bay with its hikes on the Lycian Way and breathtaking sunset views.

Day 6
Back to Fethiye, we anchor and get ready to welcome the New Year with a view of the whole city! Fireworks, champagne and a night water taxi into the celebrating city. We party until morning!

Day 7
After a good sleep-in we refuel the yacht and prepare for check-out. The night of 1 to 2 January is spent aboard in the marina.

Is it cold on a yacht in December?
In Fethiye Bay it is about 18–20 °C by day, 10–15 °C at night, with the sea around 18 °C. Bring warm layers for the evening and a windbreaker.
Do I need experience?
No. Basic sailing instruction is included and an experienced skipper is always aboard.
