Montenegro: yacht tour of the Bay of Kotor

A week under sail around the Bay of Kotor: Kotor, Budva, Sveti Stefan, underwater caves, seaside restaurants and a final day on a fast boat with wakesurfing.

Accommodation

We slept on a 2022 Bavaria C45 yacht or similar, in double cabins. Two bathrooms and a kitchen with a fridge and gas stove are at guests’ disposal.

Day-by-day program

1
Day 1
We meet at the home marina, Porto Montenegro in Tivat, check in to the yacht, hold a safety briefing and shop for provisions. Dinner at a restaurant in Tivat.

Day 2
In the morning we head to Kotor: oyster and mussel farms and man-made islands await on the way. In Kotor we have dinner and see the old town’s nightlife. We spend the night in the local marina.

Day 3
Plenty of sailing, rope swing jumps and a family seaside restaurant in Bigova Bay serving its own catch. We stay in the bay for the night.

Day 4
On to Budva! Local bays are full of real sea life: water activities, remote island beaches and a sunset beside the old town walls. After sunset the beaches turn into a party. We go to bed a bit later than usual.

Day 5
We spend the fifth day near Budva too: a walk to the Sveti Stefan peninsula and local underwater caves, ending the day in the Lazure marina in Herceg Novi.

Day 6
After a morning swim near the fortress island of Mamula we head to a seaside restaurant for lunch, and towards sunset hand back the yacht to finish our big journey…

Day 7
…but only to begin a small one! All day we have a fast boat for 10 people, a wakesurf board and the most remote corners of the Bay of Kotor: islands, caves, fishing villages and river mouths. We spend the final night aboard, and at 10:00 we check out and head to the airport.
